How Does A Vertical Form Fill Seal Machine Work?

Vertical form fill seal machines are widely used in various industries today because of their small size, fast packaging speed, and economical. As a professional manufacturer of VFFS packaging machines, we will introduce the working principle to understand how the VFFS machine turns the roll film into a finished bag.

The VFFS machine  is mainly composed of a film pulling system, a printer (optional), a pouch former, a filling and sealing system, a bag cutting device, etc. 

1- Film Pulling System
The film pulling system consists of an unwinding roller and a tensioner. Put the film rolls of laminated PE (polyethylene), PET, paper, and aluminum foil on the unwinding roller behind the machine. Driven by a servo motor to pull the film, it moves continuously and smoothly to keep the film in a state of tension.

2- Printer (optional)
The printer is an optional device on demand. There are two ways, one is ribbon coding, and the other is thermal transfer. The film pulling system transports the film to the printer, then prints the date or production batch code.

3- Pouch Former & Filling and Sealing System
After printing, the film moves to the forming tube, where the photo-eye locates the exact location on the film, seals the bottom and the vertical seam where the two edges of the film join together, forming the film to the correct bag size. At the same time, the weighing system completes the weighing of the material and fills the weighed material into the bag. Next, the heated horizontal sealing pliers come together to form the top seal of one bag and the bottom seal of the next.

4- Bag Cutting Device
There is a sharp knife inside the heated horizontal sealing pliers. It cuts the bag after sealing, and the finished product falls. Then the VFFS machine enters the next packaging cycle.
